Eagles Get Past St. Francis Brooklyn, 74-69, in Fort Myers Tipoff Opener

Ky Bowman leads all scorers with 26 points; four score in double-digits for BC
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Ky Bowman scored a game-high 26 points, leading four Boston College players in double figures in a 74-69 win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon at Conte Forum. Trailing 65-64 with 4:07 to play, the Eagles outscored the Terriers, 10-4, down the stretch to seal the win. BC was 8-for-8 from the foul line during the stretch.
Both teams traded baskets to start the game - the first of four in the Fort Myers Tipoff - before SFC took a 15-10 lead with 10:47 remaining in the first half. BC would counter with an 11-2 push over the next 3:47, capped by two free throws from Jordan Chatman, making it 21-17 with seven minutes to play.
The Terriers would respond with a 13-4 run of its own, paced by four consecutive 3-pointers, and the visitors led 30-25 with 2:28 to go. Bowman would score the final eight points of the half for BC, including a deep 3-pointer from the top of the key to end the half, tying the ballgame at 33-33 at the half.
After four quick Boston College points to start the second half, St. Francis called for a quick time out less than a minute into the period. The Eagles would continue its hot hand, making 7-of-9 from the floor en route to taking their largest lead of the afternoon - 51-42 - after a driving layup by Bowman with 13:55 remaining.
St. Francis responded with 11 unanswered and took a 53-51 lead with 11:30 to play. It was back-and-forth the rest of the way, with four ties and six lead changes before BC took the lead for good with 4:07 left in regulation.

Ky Bowman posted his second straight efficiency rating (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK - Missed Shots - TO) of at least 20. The junior guard registered a 22 versus the Terriers. BC's five starters each posted an EFF stat of at least 12.

- Ky Bowman - the Nation's Most Dynamic Guard - led all scorers with 26 points. Bowman was 8-fo-18 from the floor, making 2-of-6 from beyond the arc and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. He added five rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a blocked shot before fouling out in 35 minutes of play.
- Jordan Chatman added 18 points, making 4-of-9 from the field (1-4 3FG) and connecting on 9-of-11 foul shots. He added four rebounds in just over 39 minutes.
- Wynston Tabbs scored 14 of his 15 points in the second half, connecting on 5-for-11 (1-4 3FG) field goals and 4-of-5 foul shots. Tabbs grabbed three boards and dished out two assists in 37 minutes.
- Nik Popovic registered his first double-double of the season - and third of his career - with 10 points and 10 rebounds. c.
- Steffon Mitchell pulled down 10 rebounds to go with five points, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. It is the 15th game with 10 or more rebounds in the sophomore's 36-game career.
- BC connected on 44.0% (22-50) from the floor for the game and outrebounded the Terriers, 39-31.
- For the second straight game, the Eagles made 5-of-20 from the perimeter.
