Sebastian Named ACC Defensive Back of the Week

Redshirt freshman earns his first career ACC honor
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College redshirt freshman Brandon Sebastian was voted ACC Defensive Back of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. It marks the first ACC Defensive Back of the Week honor for Sebastian.

With the score tied at 14 late in the third quarter, Sebastian made the play of the game with his first career interception gave BC the ball at the Virginia Tech 19. BC entered the game with 31 interceptions over the last two years, tied for the national lead. The Eagles scored one play later to take the lead for good to earn the road win. Sebastian added a career-best 10 tackles.

After trailing for the only time in the game at 14-7 with 10:44 to play in the second quarter, the BC defense made nine consecutive stops, including two takeaways and two turnovers-on-downs.

The win marked just the second time in 16 seasons BC has victories over Miami and Virginia Tech in the same year. The only other time BC defeated both the Hurricanes and Hokies was 2007. The week prior to Virginia Tech, the Eagles defeated No. 25 Miami 27-13.

No. 14/17 Boston College returns to action Saturday, Nov. 10 in front of an ABC primetime audience against No. 2 Clemson. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.

In addition Saturday, America's preeminent college football pre-game show will be on location live from the Chestnut Hill campus on Saturday, Nov. 10 as ESPN's College GameDay will be live on-campus.
The 357th installation of College GameDay will air live on ESPN from 9 a.m. – noon ET. The 10-time Emmy award-winning college football traveling road show is hosted by Rece Davis, who is joined by Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, David Pollack and Maria Taylor, as well as contributors Chris "The Bear" Fallica, Jen Lada, Tom Rinaldi and Gene Wojciechowski.Â
