Allen Named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Boston College senior defensive end Zach Allen was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week on Monday. The honor marks Allen's second of the season and third of his career.

At Florida State on Saturday, Allen posted six tackles and blocked his second kick of the season; a 45-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter. He also registered a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry.

Allen is in the top-10 in tackles for loss and sacks in the ACC with 13.5 TFLs and 6.5 sacks. He leads the league with two blocked kicks and is tied for third with two fumble recoveries.

Entering the season, Allen was named to the watch list for the Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Wuerffel Tropy and Ted Hendricks Award. He also hauled in preseason All-America recognition by Phil Steele's and Athlon Sports. Earlier this month, Allen was named a semifinalist for the Bednarik and quarterfinalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, which honors the top defensive player in college football who makes the biggest impact for his team both on and off the field.

Boston College is in action this week vs. Syracuse for a noon ET kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 24 at Alumni Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN and aired across the BC IMG Sports Network, including 93.7 WEEI locally.
