Eagles come up short at Florida State, 22-21
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A 74-yard touchdown pass from Deondre Francois to Tamorrion Terry with less than two minutes to play handed No. 20 Boston College a 22-21 loss to Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday.
AJ Dillon rushed for 116 yards on 37 carries and scored two touchdowns; the second of which gave the Eagles a 21-13 lead early in the fourth quarter. Kobay White added 121 yards in the air on seven catches as Anthony Brown was 18-for-36 passing for 297 yards.
Francois threw for 322 yards on 19-of-39 passing. Cam Akers ran the ball 14 times for 110 yards and a score.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida State scored first on a 35-yard field goal from Ricky Aguayo. The Seminoles took over on downs and went 42 yards on six plays to score the first points of the game (3-0).
Boston College took its first lead of the game at 7-3 on a four-yard run by AJ Dillon in the second quarter. The scoring drive featured two third down completions to Tommy Sweeney and a 34-yard completion to Korab Idrizi.
Florida State responded after the BC scoring drive with another Aguayo field goal from 25 yards out to cut the deficit to 7-6 at halftime.
The two teams exchanged touchdowns in the third quarter as Cam Akers scored from four yards out to give FSU a 13-7 lead. On the ensuing drive for BC, Anthony Brown executed a perfect hitch and go with Jeff Smith for a 26-yard touchdown to put BC back in front, 14-13.
BC pushed its lead to eight after an 18-play, 82-yard scoring drive that ended with Dillon's second touchdown of the night to give BC the lead at 21-13. A key fourth down pass completion from Brown to Walker setup the touchdown on the drive.
FSU connected on its third field goal of the night with 12:04 left in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 21-16.
The Seminoles got the game-winning touchdown with 1:49 left on the clock on the Francois to Terry hook-up of 74 yards.

NOTEABLES
- Sophomore running back AJ Dillon became the first player in 120 seasons of Boston College football to begin his career with back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons. Dillon went over the 1,000-yard mark on his four-yard touchdown run.
- Senior defensive end Zach Allen blocked his second career kick and first career field goal in the first quarter to end a FSU drive. Allen blocked a PAT earlier in the season in the Louisville win.
- The blocked kick by Allen was the fifth of the season for Boston College.
- Redshirt freshman cornerback Brandon Sebastian recorded his second career interception in the first quarter and returned the INT to the Florida State 24-yard line.
- Junior cornerback Hamp Cheevers tallied his seventh interception of the season in the second quarter. Cheevers leads the nation with his seven interceptions.
- No. 20 Boston College returns home for the regular season finale against No. 12 Syracuse on Senior Day at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon with live broadcast coverage on ESPN and the BC IMG Sports Network (WEEI 93.7 FM).
