Garraud, Dickens Combine For 38 points In Eagles, 89-63, Win Over Holy Cross

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College freshmen guards Makayla Dickens and Marnelle Garraud combined for 38 points to lead the Eagles past Holy Cross, 89-63, in front of 3,117 fans during the Annual Field Trip Day at Conte Forum.

Boston College improved to 3-0, while the Crusaders drop to 1-1.

Dickens finished with 19 points, behind five three-pointers along with six rebounds, while Garraud shot 6-for-7 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the three-point arc for 19 points. She also had five rebounds and four assists in the win.

After being down, 27-25, in the first quarter, the two teams exchanged baskets in the first four minutes of play. Â A Dickens three-pointer at 7:10 ignited a 10-0 BC run for a 42-32 lead. She proceeded to score eight points in the quarter, 14 points in the half as the Eagles held a 51-41 halftime lead.

The closest Holy Cross would get in the second half was nine points when Avery Labarbera hit a three-pointer early in the third quarter. The Eagles pushed the lead to 19 points after layups from Georgia Pineau and Taylor Soule and two three-pointers by Garraud. Â
BC led 72-52 after three quarters. BC shot 58 percent in the fourth quarter but scored just 17 points. The Eagles held Holy Cross to just 11 points in the final stanza.
