Fencing Shines In Opener

BC wins program record 15 medals at the NEIFC Invitational on October 28.
The Boston College men's and women's fencing teams kicked off the 2018-19 season with the NEIFC Invitational on October 28.
In the individual competition against athletes from schools around the Northeast, the Eagles won a program record 15 medals, besting previous record of 13 set by the 2017-18 team. Seven of the 15 medals were won by the Class of 2022, including Spencer Kuldell's victory in the men's sabre championship. Aiden Banyon-Mrak and Brend Meng won silver in men's epee and men's sabre, while Madison Lee placed third in women's foil.
For the returning athletes, Crystal Chen led the way, taking gold in women's sabre. Zack Hammer finished second in men's foil, while Ben Slavin and Gillian Lawlor finished third in men's and women's sabre.
