Irani Closes Tiger Fall Classic With Singles Victory

BATON ROUGE, La. – Natasha Irani closed out a strong weekend at LSU's Tiger Fall Classic on Sunday with a Day 3 singles victory for Boston College women's tennis over Northwestern's Julie Byrne 7-5, 6-2.

"Natasha's performance was once again extraordinary," said associate head coach John Sherwood. "She was down 4-5 in the first set, intensified her focus and took the first set 7-5. This once again inspired her to step on the gas and close out the second set 6-2. Natasha is really starting to see her potential and has a great season ahead."

In BC's other singles matches against Northwestern, Yufei Long was defeated by Clarissa Hand 7-5, 6-4, while Dasha Possokhova fell to Hannah McColgan by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Marion Conklin was forced to retire after the first set against Vanessa Streng due to an abdominal injury.

The Tiger Fall Classic marked the final fall competition for the Eagles, who begin the spring season on Saturday, Jan. 19 with a home match against Dartmouth at 1 p.m.
