Eagles Race to 10th at New England Championship

Sean Burke placed second overall to lead Eagles
JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. – The Boston College men's cross country team competed at the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park, finishing in 10th as a team with 244 points.
Senior Sean Burke placed second overall in the 171-man field with a time of 24:34.8. Averaging a 4:56.7 mile, Burke was the first Eagles across the line for the third time this season.
UMass Amherst took the team title with 84 points while Leakey Kipkosgei from American International won the individual title with a time of 24:08.0.
Junior Sean Sullivan came in 44th overall as the second BC runner to finish, coming in with a time of 25:55.4. Fellow junior Zachary Beston finished 49th at a personal-best 26:03.2 while senior Benjamin Osipow's time of 26:03.2 was good for 72nd overall.
Senior Sawyer Maher rounded out the scoring Eagles, placing 77th, while junior Ian Ritchie placed 86th. Maher finished the course in a time of 26:25.4 while Ritchie completed the race in 26:35.2.
Three Eagles also competed as individuals in the men's sub varsity race, led by freshman Alexander Horgan who finished fifth overall in 26:11.6. Sophomore Ben Ruffing placed seventh with a time of 26:16.5 while sophomore Yahya Soliman crossed the line at 28:15.6 for 80th overall. All three times were personal-bests for the respective Eagles.
