Burke Leads Eagles with Fifth-Place Finish

Eagles finish 12th at ACC Championship
JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. – The Boston College men's cross country team placed 12th at the 2018 ACC Cross Country Championship with 353 points, led by senior Sean Burke's fifth-place individual finish, at Franklin Park on Friday morning.

Burke's 8K time of 23:53.2 was the fastest time ever run by an Eagle on the Franklin Park course. Burke made his moves on the back half of the course, jumping five spots from 14th at the 1.5K split to ninth at the 5K mark, then passing another four runners in the final 3K to finish in his highest-ever placement at the ACC Championship.

Junior Ian Ritchie was the second Eagle across the line, placing 91st with his personal-record time of 25:23.5, followed by junior Sean Sullivan in 104th with his time of 25:49.2.

Freshman Alexander Horgan finished in a personal-best time of 25:49.8, good for 105th, while sophomore Kyle Faddis completed the course in 26:26.7 for 117th.

Junior Zachary Beston closed out the race for the Eagles in 119th with a time of 26:32.8.

Notre Dame pulled an upset to win the team title with 57 points, followed by Syracuse in second with 61 points. NC State rounded out the top-three with 85 points.

Virginia Tech's Peter Seufer won the men's individual title in a time of 23:30.9.
