Eagles Top Terriers in Senior Day Showdown
October 28, 2018 | Field Hockey
NEWTON, Mass. – The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team wrapped up their regular season with a 1-0 win over city rival No. 24 Boston University Sunday afternoon in Newton. Freshman Eva Van de Mierop scored the lone goal of the contest and secured the win in the Eagles' finale.Â
Despite an obvious offensive advantage for BC over the first half, neither team could find the back of the cage to change the score. The Eagles held a 5-2 shot advantage through the opening stanza.Â
To open the second half, Van de Mierop found her first career goal off of a corner shot. A straight-fire shot to the back of the cage put the Eagles up 1-0.Â
The contest concluded with freshman goalkeeper Jonna Kennedy's first career shutout. The Eagles ended with a 10-5 shot advantage as Kennedy earned two saves.
The Eagles move to 10-8 on the season with the Terriers bumping to 10-7.Â
