Eagles Best Bulldogs in Dual-Meet

The swim and dive team combined for over 20 first-place finishes vs. Bryant
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College swim and dive team topped Bryant in a dual meet at home on Friday evening. The men's team racked up a score of 183 compared to Bryant's 115, while the women's team totaled 215 points to Bryant's 85. Highlighting the meet for the Eagles were over 20 first-place times.

The Eagles continue hosting as they welcome Northeastern and Maine to the Plex for a meet next weekend. The meet will begin on Saturday, October 20 at 1 p.m.Â

- The team of Maura Grimes, Alexa Lantin, Victoria Lin and Haley Dolan placed first in the women's 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:46.88. The Eagles also took second in the same event as Ina Elcott, Taylor Covington, Ashleigh Scott and Maria Abrams recorded a time of 1:47.68.
- Ali Kea, Ashleigh Scott and Aileen Coyne swept the top three spots in the women's 200-yard freestyle with times of 1:55.12, 1:55.60, and 1:56.38, respectively.
- Michael Hinton, Zander Santana and Sam Roche found similar endings for the men's 200-yard freestyle: Hinton placed first with a time of 1:44.51, Santana recorded 1:45.41 and Roche recorded 1:46.56. Matthew Shelton tied with Bryant's Matthew Mastroianni for fourth place with a time of 1:48.07.
- Maura Grimes pushed her way to the top of the scoresheet for the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.77.
- Taylor Covington and Alexa Lantin placed first and second in the women's 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:06.84 and 1:07.54 respectively.
- Taylor Cortens, Charlie Kleinsmith and Billy Miller swept the men's 100-yard breaststroke with times of 57.48, 58.93 and 58.99 respectively. Sami Fares earned the fifth-top spot with a time of 59.88.
- For the women's 200-yard butterfly, Eagles placed in the top four spots: Victoria Lin placed first with a time of 2:08.01 while Isabel Blaze (2:08.65), Maria Russo (2:12.43) and Sarah Hanning (2:12.92) followed behind.Â
- Ali Kea and Haley Dolan took the top two spots in the women's 50-yard freestyle with times of 24.47 and 24.48.
- Damion Ribeiro (21.83), Kevin Chandra (21.84) and Max Threlkeld (21.97) found the top three spots in the same event for the men's side.
- Ellie Uhl topped the scoring for the women's 3-meter dive with a score of 256.95. Robert McCrory did the same for the men with a score of 250.65.
- Ali Kea earned the top spot in the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.33 while Ashleigh Scott earned third (53.62) and Aileen Coyne placed fourth (54.15).
- Max Threlkeld placed first in the same event for the men's team with a time of 48.45 and Kevin Chandra earned third with a time of 48.68.
- Grace Edwards (2:06.22) placed first in the women's 200-yard backstroke while Maura Grimes (2:09.27), Katherine Karle (2:10.95) and Natalie Dalla Riva (2:11.03) placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively.Â
- Alexa Lantin placed first in the women's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.81.
- Eagles swept the top three spots in the men's 200-yard breaststroke as Taylor Cortens placed first with a 2:06.83 final time, Peter Shepanzyk came in second at 2:10.53 and Charlie Kleinsmith placed third with 2:10.80.
- Zander Santana (4:44.77), Jack Fenton (4:52.80) and Will Suchy (4:53.93) earned the top three spots in the men's 500-yard freestyle.
- Four of the top five spots in the women's 100-yard butterfly were taken by Eagles: Victoria Lin placed first (57.66), Ina Elcott placed second (58.02), Isabel Blaze found fourth (58.84) and Sarah Hanning placed fifth (1:00.25).Â
- Gabriella Taghian (242.92) and Robert McCrory (251.47) each placed first in their respective 1-meter dives.
- Alexa Lantin (2:10.81) placed first and Grace Edwards (2:12.15) earned second in the women's 200-yard individual medley.Â
- The team of Ashleigh Scott, Julie Dobson, Aileen Coyne and Ali Kea earned first-place in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.46.
- The team of Michael Hinton, Sam Roche, Zander Santana and Max Threlkeld found similar results for the men's team with a time of 3:10.06.
The Eagles continue hosting as they welcome Northeastern and Maine to the Plex for a meet next weekend. The meet will begin on Saturday, October 20 at 1 p.m.Â
