
Eagles Sweep Distance Events at BU Multi-Team Meet

Sophomore Emma Taylor moved to fourth place in BC records book in the 60 meter hurdles
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's track and field team competed in its third meet of the indoor season on Thursday, Jan. 18 when they traveled to the Track and Tennis Center at Boston University to participate in the BU Multi-Team Meet.

Sophomore Emma Taylor moved to fourth place in the BC records books in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.06 to win the event and qualify for the New England Championships. The Eagles dominated the distance events of the day as they swept the top three places in both the one mile run and the 3000 meter run. BC also had a strong showing in the 60 meter hurdles as it took the top three spots in that event as well.

The Eagles return to action next week at the Track and Tennis Center at Boston University to compete at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday, Jan. 26.

BC Highlights:
- Sophomore Julia Lyons earned a seventh place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.25.
- BC had a strong showing in the 400 meter dash with five runners finishing in the top six. Sophomore Monica Heil won the event with a time of 58.07. Senior Julia Barron was close behind in second place, crossing the line in 58.53. Both Heil and Barron qualified for the New England Championships with their times. Taylor took third place at 59.41 and freshmen Anne Leahy and Vanessa Reimer finished at fifth and sixth place respectively, crossing the line at 1:01.48 and 1:01.65.
- Sophomore Ashlyn McKenna finished in second place overall in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:19.52. Classmate Hannah McNeil crossed the line in fifth place at 1:22.11.
- In the 800 meter run, senior Shannon Ahern ran a New England qualifying time of 2:13.69 to finish in second place overall in the event. Junior Gianna Bender was close behind in fourth place, crossing the line in 2:15.15. Senior Molly McCabe took fifth place at 2:16.02. Bender and McCabe also qualified for the New England Championships.
- Freshman Emily Criscuolo bested her 1000 meter time from last week by six seconds with an event-winning 2:55.72.
- The Eagles swept the top three places in the one mile run as senior Julia Gregory, freshman Miranda Thompson and senior Ashbrook Gwinn finished in first, second and third place, respectively. Gregory was the only girl to break five minutes on the day with a time of 4:59.29. Thompson crossed the line close behind in 5:00.24 and Gwinn finished in 5:02.45. All three girls qualified for the New England Championships.
- BC also swept the top three spots in the 3000 meter run as junior Paige Duca, who won the mile last week, returned this week to win the 3000 with a time of 9:53.01. Freshman Kylee Raftis was close behind at 9:55.63 for second place and Jillian Skerry crossed the line in third place at 9:56.36.
- The Eagles took the top three spots again in the 60 meter hurdles. Taylor won the event with a time of 9.06 and senior Anna Atkinson was close behind with a second-place time of 9.11. Barron finished in third place at 9.14. Each of the girls qualified for the New England Championships.
- The BC 4x400 meter relay team of Heil, Barron, Ahern and McCabe won the event with a time of 3:52.58.
- In the field events, freshman Jessica Creedon finished in second place in the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters, besting her jump of 1.60 meters from the week before.
- Lyons finished in second place in the long jump with a jump of 5.50 meters
- Junior Yasmin Ali finished in fourth place overall in the triple jump with a jump of 10.45 meters.
