Eagles Compete at BU Four Way Meet

Sophomore Avery McKenzie earned a first place finish in the triple jump
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College men's track and field team competed in its third meet of the indoor season on Thursday, Jan. 18 at the BU Four Way Meet. The Eagles competed against Boston University, Sacred Heart and UMass Lowell.

Top performances on the day include a first place finish in the triple jump by sophomore Avery Mckenzie and a second place finish in the 400 meter dash by junior Oliver Boucher. Freshman Michael Hains added another second place finish in the 800 meter run. Junior Matthew Morano also earned a third place finish in the 500 meter run.

The Eagles return to action on Friday, Jan. 26 when they travel to Boston University to compete in the John Thomas Terrier Classic.

BC Highlights:
- Freshman Ryan Russell earned third place overall in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.84. Classmate Stephen Windisch and Boucher took sixth and seventh, respectively as they crossed the line in 23.11 and 23.41.
- Boucher finished in second place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.90. Freshman Max Herrerias was close behind in third place, crossing the line in 51.21.
- Morano finished in third place in the 500 meter run with a New England qualifying time of 1:04.25. Junior Michael Saxon crossed the line in fifth place at 1:07.41.
- The men had a strong showing in the 800 meter run, led by Hains who crossed the line in 1:52.67 to earn second place overall. Junior Andrew Willis finished in fifth place with a time of 1:55.04. Freshman Ben Ruffing and sophomores Sean Conboy and Ryan Scanlon also finished in the top 10.
- Junior Benjamin Osipow and sophomore Sean Sullivan earned third and fourth place finishes in the one mile run as Osipow crossed the line in 4:10.22 to top his previous mile time from earlier this season by 15 seconds and Sullivan finished in 4:11.21. Both qualified for the New England Championships in the mile.
- In the 3000 meter run, junior Zachary Beston crossed the line in third place at 8:46.64.
- The BC 4x400 meter relay team of Boucher, Saxon, Morano and junior Mikhail Bethell finished in third place overall, crossing the line in 3:25.34.
- In the field events, McKenzie earned a fourth place finish in the long jump with a jump of 6.16 meters. McKenzie also won first place in the triple jump, clearing 14.72 meters to qualify for the New England Championships.
