
Five Three-Set Matches Decide Loss to FSU

Eagles win doubles point
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – It came down to the third sets in fifth and sixth singles, but the Boston College women's tennis team fell to Florida State, 5-2, in Friday's ACC home match.

The Eagles won the doubles point, and junior Asiya Dair won 6-4, 6-3 in first singles. The rest of the singles matches came down to a third set.

Florida State led, 3-2, when freshman Elene Tsokilauri came back to force a third set in sixth singles. However, Florida State's Ariana Rahmanparast earned the 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory that clinched the Seminoles' team win.

Shortly after, senior Emily Safron completed the contest with a tight fifth-singles match, which Andrea Garcia won 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 for FSU (11-8, 3-3 ACC).

In doubles play, Florida State began with a win on the No. 3 court. Then freshmen Kylie Wilcox and Dasha Possokhova tied it up with a 6-3 victory in first doubles. BC (8-9, 3-6 ACC) clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 second-doubles victory from senior Lexi Borr and sophomore Jackie Urbinati.

The Eagles will next host Virginia Tech on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Dedham Health and Athletic Complex.
