PAST HISTORY

This will be the third time the Eagles take on the Chippewas at the Snowbird Classic. The Eagles have won the previous two meetings, taking a 9-3 victory last year and a 5-4 win in 2014.
The Eagles take on the Hoyas for the first time since 2005, BC's last year in the BIG EAST. They compiled a 27-11 all-time record against their former conference foe, taking the final series by winning the first two games in Chestnut Hill before falling in the last one, 7-2.
BC takes on Villanova for the second time in two weeks after picking up a 10-3 victory last weekend. The Eagles are 28-22 against this former BIG EAST opponent and have won the last 11 meetings, including the last five on neutral territory.
When BC plays Ball State and Toledo in a doubleheader on Tuesday, it will be the first time the Eagles take on both opponents in program history.

WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE EAGLES

The Eagles return to the Snowbird Classic for the fourth straight year. Under seventh-year head coach Mike Gambino, BC is 11-4 in the Florida tournament.
Friday starter sophomore RHP Jacob Stevens has not allowed an unearned run in the first 13 innings he has thrown this season, striking out 15, walking just four and giving up only six hits. Batters are hitting just .111 against him. He tied a career high with a seven-inning out against Northern Illinois last week, striking out six.
Sophomore Gian Martellini was named BC's Male Eagle of the Week after leading the Eagles with a .500 batting average and tying for the team lead with six hits, three runs and five RBIs in the 19 Ways Invitational hosted by Oklahoma last weekend. In the Eagles' 10-3 victory against Villanova, he tallied a career-high four RBIs, going 3-for-4 with a run, walk and his third double of the season. His three-run double against the Wildcats was the eventual game winner, as the Eagles trailed, 3-1, at that point in the game.
Junior Jake Palomaki has reached base in the last eight games, dating back to last season. With two stolen bases last weekend, he now has 37 in his career, which is tied eighth in BC record books. His 95 career walks is tied for sixth all-time.
Freshman RHP Matt Gill returns to the hill on Saturday for the matchup against Georgetown after making his first career start and picking up his first career win against Villanova on Feb. 25. He threw a career-high seven innings and struck out a career-high three.
Sunday starter sophomore lefty Dan Metzdorf is coming off a career day against Oklahoma (Feb. 26), pitching a career-high seven innings and striking out a career-high six. He allowed just one run, five hits and walked two and left the game with a three-run lead.
Palomaki, senior Michael Strem and junior Donovan Casey are all on a five-game hit streaks while junior Scott Braren has reached base in the last nine games and senior Johnny Adams the last seven, dating back to last season.
All four of the Eagles' losses in 2017 are by one run.
