Record-Breaking Cortez Earns ACC Player of the Week

Cortez hit .500 with 1.167 slugging, 14 RBI last week
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior Tatiana Cortez earned ACC Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The catcher/third baseman hit .500 with three home runs, 14 RBI and a 1.167 slugging percentage.
Â
Cortez also set the program record for career RBI and tied the team records for career home runs and RBI in a single game last week.

Cortez recorded seven RBI on Wednesday against Penn, tying BC's all-time high set by Jenna Macchi (March 31 and April 10, 2007) and Tory Speer (May 5, 2011). Her seven RBI tied her with Speer's program record of 135 career RBI.

The Houston native then set BC's career RBI record with a two-run home run later Wednesday against South Florida. It was her 41st career home run, tying Speer for the program record.

Cortez now has 149 career RBI.

This season, Cortez has accumulated seven home runs and 27 RBI – both second in the ACC. Cortez has hit .329 with a .414 on-base percentage and .712 slugging.

Cortez is the second Eagle to earn ACC Player of the Week this season, with junior Jordan Chimento winning the accolade Feb. 14.
