CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College football team defeated ACC rival Syracuse, 42-14, at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Nov. 25 to finish 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the ACC for the 2017 season. The Eagles now await bowl announcements on Sunday, Dec. 3.
True freshman running back AJ Dillon led the way against the Orange with three touchdowns and 193 yards rushing. Dillon finished with 23 carries and scored on his very first carry of the game.
The Eagles defeated Syracuse at the Carrier Dome for the first time since 2010 and scored the most points ever against the Orange with 42. They dominated all three aspects of the game on Saturday, finishing with 581 yards of total offense.
In the press conference following the game, head coach Steve Addazio said that the team played "great complementary football." The BC defense held the Orange scoreless in the second half.
With the win over Syracuse, BC is a contender for the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 27 and the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas on Dec. 28.
In other BC sports news, the men's basketball team fell to Providence, 86-66, on Saturday, Nov. 25. Despite the loss, graduate Deontae Hawkins had a strong performance, scoring 15 points in the first nine minutes and 16 seconds.
The men's hockey team tied Harvard, 4-4, on Friday, Nov. 24. The team finished the month of November with a 7-0-1 record. The Eagles look to continue their success against cross-town rival Boston University at home on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.
