Zach Allen Earns Academic All-District Honors

Connecticut native honored for his play on the field and in the classroom
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior defensive end Zach Allen was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, CoSIDA announced today. Allen has been a standout on defense this season for the Eagles in addition to earning a 3.67 grade point average in the classroom as a finance major.

Allen leads all defensive linemen nationally with 78 tackles in 2017. The Connecticut native has registered at least eight tackles in a game on six occasions.

He was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week after a career-high 14 tackles and 3.0 TFLs against No. 16 Virginia Tech.

In four games against current nationally-ranked teams (Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Clemson, NC State), Allen totaled 40 tackles. He leads the Eagles with 10.0 TFLs and five quarterback hurries and his 78 tackles rank second on the team.

Allen and his BC teammates return to action Saturday, November 18 at Fenway Park against UConn. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network and the BC IMG Sports Network (WEEI 93.7 FM).
