Junior earns first career ACC honor after standout night
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday that Boston College junior defensive end Zach Allen has been named the conference's defensive lineman of the week. It marked the first time in Allen's career he was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Allen was all over the field against No. 16 Virginia Tech as he finished with a career-high 14 tackles. He also established a new personal-best with three tackles for loss against the Hokies and also tallied one sack and one quarterback hurry.

The 14 tackles were the most by any player on the field Saturday night.

The Connecticut native leads BC with 55 tackles on the season and is tied for the team lead with 8.0 tackles for loss. Nationally, Allen is 32nd nationally in tackles, 40th in tackles for loss and 49th in sacks. He is in the top 10 in the ACC in all three categories as well.
BC (2-4, 0-3 ACC) return to action Saturday, Oct. 14 at Louisville. Kickoff is set for 12:20 p.m. on ACC Network (myTV38 in Boston) and the BC IMG Sports Network (850 WEEI AM).
