The Eagles return to Franklin Park
Chestnut Hill, Mass. – On Saturday, Oct. 7 the Boston College men's cross country team will participate in the 105th Annual New England Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
The Eagles will compete in the 8K against 34 teams. The men's varsity race is scheduled to go off at 12:30 p.m.
Head coach Matt Kerr discussed the team's game plan at Franklin Park this weekend. "Our next major team focus is going to be Pre-Nationals," Kerr explained. "The guys that came back from Chile Pepper have raced back-to-back weekends and they need a week off. Pre-Nats is big because it's also the site of the ACC Championships and we want to go there and run well."
"For New Englands, we're going to run some individuals who are going to hope to get on the Pre-Nats team and those who are going to round out the team that we are going to bring to the ACC Championships," Kerr continued. "We are going to bring redshirt freshman Will Peters, Ian Ritchie, who was a mid-distance runner a year ago and wants to take a shot at cross country and making this 8K team. So we're going to run some individuals and put them in the mix at Franklin Park, so we'll have to see how they do."
At the 2016 NEICAAA, the Eagles finished in tenth place out of 34 teams. Then sophomore Sean Burke crossed the line first for the Eagles, finishing in eighth place with a time of 24:59.93 in the 8K.
The results for the race will be posted on the NEICAAA website.
