ACC Tournament Preview: No. 8 BC at No. 1 Duke

Eagles to play the Blue Devils on the road Sunday at 1 p.m.
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – The Boston College women's soccer team will play top-seed Duke on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the first round of the ACC Tournament in Durham, North Carolina. Fans can view the game on the ACC Network Extra.

To get into the tournament, Boston College (10-8-1, 4-5-1 ACC) needed a victory combined with a Clemson loss/tie and Louisville loss/tie. Clemson tied FSU in double-overtime (2-2 2OT) and NC State defeated Louisville, 2-1.
BC VS. DUKE
- BC and Duke have played 16 times, including a 2-1 loss at home on October 19. Duke leads the overall series, 9-4-3.
- In the Eagles loss to the Blue Devils earlier this season, Boston College had an 18-13 edge in shots taken. The Eagles also had seven corners. Duke scored in the 61st minute to win the match. Rookie Sam Coffey scored the lone goal for the Eagles.
- The last time BC defeated Duke was on Oct. 6, 2013. The Eagles earned a 3-1 victory.
- The Blue Devils are currently ranked No. 2 in the country.
THE LAST TIME OUT
- Boston College defeated Pittsburgh, 3-2, in double-overtime on the road. The win propelled the Eagles into the ACC Tournament for the first time since 2013.
- BC scored first as sophomore Jenna Bike scored her sixth goal of the season in the 8th minute of the match. Sam Coffey was awarded an assist on the goal.
- Duke tied the game in the 31st minute as Sarah Krause.
- Boston College went up 2-1 on senior Lauren Berman's goal in the 41st minute.
- After Pitt tied the game in the 84th minute, freshman Gianna Mitchell won the game in the 104th minute on a header off a corner kick.

- Junior Alexis Bryant has six shutouts this season. The Eagles goalkeeper now has 13 career shutouts and is now 6th overall on the all-time list behind Arianna Criscione '07 with 14. The all-time record is held by Jillian Mastroianni '12 with 44. She had five saves in the win over Pittsburgh.
- The Eagles have played the full season without regular starters Gaby Carreiro and Jade Ruiters. Both players were injured prior to the 2017 season. Carreiro started played in 38 games with 37 starts. She led the team with eight assists as a sophomore. She had two goals and five assists as a rookie in 2015.
- Boston College is fourth in the country in corner kicks with a 7.67 average. The team is also ranked 90th overall in shots per game (14.78) and 79th in shots on goal per game (6.89).
- Rookie Sam Coffey leads the team in scoring with five goals, nine assists for 19 points. She is the highest scoring rookie since McKenzie Meehan had 18 points in 2012. She is the first BC rookie to lead the team in scoring since Victoria DiMartino scored 14 goals, six assists or a team-high 34 points in 2009. Kia McNeill also led the team in scoring in her rookie season with 10 goals, two assists for 22 points in 2004.
