Eagles Fall To Duke, 3-1, In ACC Tournament

DURHAM, N.C. – The Boston College women's soccer team fell to Duke, 3-1, in the first round of the ACC Tournament at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. Duke, the ACC Tournament's top seed, will play fourth-seeded Virginia in the semifinals in Charleston, South Carolina Friday night.
Duke opened up the scoring in the 13th minute of the match. Chelsea Burns headed in a cross which came from the right of BC keeper Alexis Bryant. The ball bounced off a defender and deflected into the near post for the 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils went up 2-0 on a goal by Imani Dorsey in the 26th minute. Kayla McCoy scored the final Duke goal in the 40th minute.
Boston College scored in the 76th minute when Carly Leipzig scored her fifth goal of the season. The Eagles junior redirected a corner kick from freshman Sam Coffey to cut into the Duke lead.
The Eagles had two great chances earlier in the match. Sophomore Olivia Vaughn had the best chance in the first half to put the Eagles on the board. Her attempt from 10 yards out sailed over the crossbar. Freshman Sam Coffey shot in the 47th minute was handled by Duke's EJ Proctor.

GOAL: BC 1, DUKE 3; 75:55: Junior Carly Leipzig tipped in a corner kick in the box for the Eagles first goal. Freshman Sam Coffey sent the ball right into the middle of the box, Leipzig was positioned in front of the Duke goalkeeper Brooke Heinsohn and she just tipped it past the keeper.

- Boston College will now awaits the outcome of the NCAA Women's Soccer Selection Show which will take place next Monday.
- Junior Carly Leipzig scored her fifth goal of the season, her personal single season high.
- Freshman Sam Coffey notched her 10th assist of the season. She is the first player to hit double-figures in assists in a single season since Kristie Mewis had 12 in the 2012 season. She had four assists in the last three games.
