Eagles Downed in Three by Clemson

Braakhuis records her fifth double-double on the season
CLEMSON, S.C. – Boston College volleyball fell in three sets to Clemson Friday night on the road.
Neither team could pull ahead in the first set until Clemson found a way to do so, taking the set 26-24. Following a quick second frame, the Eagles trailed the Tigers in the third but were mostly within three points, including in the final of the third, 25-22.
BC was paced by sophomore Cat Balido, recording 12 kills, 15.5 points and two service aces. Graduate Lynn Braakhuis followed with 10 kills and led defensively with 10 digs, notching her fifth double-double of the season. Sophomore Jane DeJarld had a team-high 17 assists.
Clemson's Kaylin Korte led the Tigers with 16 kills, hitting .324. Kailey Harvell also hit high, registering at .355 and 15 kills.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Braakhuis registered a double-double off of 10 kills and 10 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
Early on, Balido nabbed two service aces against Clemson as the Eagles began on top. BC held a slight lead through most of the match, but Clemson tied it up at 17 all. Points were traded until Clemson took at two-point lead at 23-21. Chukwujekwu and Braakhuis made a kill apiece, tying it up at 23-all. After being brought to 24-all, Clemson grabs the next two points and the frame, 26-24.
SET 2
Balido opened the scoreboard with a kill, though the teams were neck-and-neck until the Tigers hit their stride with a 5-0 run until freshmen Ally Mullen and Clare Naughton broke it up with a big block, followed by another run, 6-0 this time, from Clemson. A kill from Braakhuis held Clemson to match point, but it took the second set, 25-16.
SET 3
Clemson began on a 5-1 run. After trailing for a better part of the set, the Eagles hit a 7-3 run to pull close to the Tigers. Clemson reach 20 points first while the Eagles were at 16. A kill from Balido and a block from Mullen held the Tigers at match point for two rallies, but Clemson was overall victorious, 25-22.
