No. 2 Wake Forest Comes to Newton on Senior Day

Eagles will welcome the ACC leader on Saturday while recognizing the senior class
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team will host No. 2 Wake Forest on Saturday night at the Newton Campus Soccer Fields. The Eagles will recognize their three seniors in a pregame ceremony before the 6 p.m. kickoff, which will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, which is accessible via WatchESPN.com or the ESPN app.
Boston College (6-8-0, 1-5-0 ACC) comes into Saturday's game on a three-game winning streak, the second-longest current streak in the ACC.
The longest? That belongs to Wake Forest (14-1-0, 6-0-0 ACC), who come in on an 11-game winning streak. Their lone loss this year came in overtime at home against Georgia State in early September. They've won every game since – out-scoring opponents 32-5 in the process – and come into the game with the ability to clinch the top seed in the ACC Championship with a win or a tie.
Callum Johnson has scored the game-winning goal in extra time the last two games for BC, in overtime against Syracuse last Friday and in double overtime on Tuesday against Connecticut. Along with Simon Enstrom – who's equaled his freshman year totals with 22 points (9 goals, 4 assists) and who has four goals and two assists in the last three games – the duo has helped lead the Eagles' late-season resurgence.
Another factor in BC's turn-around of late is the team's full health. After weeks of missing between two and five starters to injuries, every Eagle has been out at training this week preparing for Wake Forest.
They'll meet a strong Demon Deacons team that sits atop the national rankings in several categories, including goals (46), assists (53) and points (145), as well as shots on goal per game (8.20). Senior Jon Bakero is making a case for the MAC Hermann Trophy this year, leading the nation in scoring (34 points) and assists (12), and ranking sixth in goals (11).
For BC, Enstrom has worked his way up the national leaders in recent weeks. He's climbed to No. 17 overall in goals (9) and points (22). He is sixth in the nation in shots per game (4.43) and 12th in shots on goal per game (2.00). Younes Boudadi is also ranked seventh nationally in assists (8).
The teams' all-time series did not begin until 2005 when the Eagles joined the ACC. Wake Forest leads the series 7-5-2, but BC holds the edge in Newton at 3-2-1. The Demon Deacons have won the last four meetings going back to 2013, out-scoring BC 12-1 in that stretch. Last year, Wake won in Winston-Salem, 1-0.
Following Saturday's game, the Eagles have one regular-season game remaining: at NC State next Friday, Oct. 27. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
