Four Named NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week
October 16, 2017 | Sailing
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Backed by a first-place performance by senior Scott Sinks, junior Wade Waddell, junior Tara Ferraris and junior Peter Lynn at the NEISA Match Race Championships, the Boston College sailing team capped a dominant weekend of competition.
Â
Sinks, Waddell, Ferraris and Lynn took home the top spot for Boston College after winning all but two of their races over the two days of racing. Their efforts earned them honors as the NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week. In addition, the squad also qualified the Eagles for the ICSA Match Race National Championship.
Â
The performance at the NEISA Match Race Championships was not the Eagles' only first-place finish of the weekend. At the Norman Reid Team Race, hosted by Boston College, the Maroon and Gold again closed the weekend at the top of the leaderboard, with performances by sophomore Scott Rasmussen, senior Drake Lyon, sophomore Thomas Walden, senior Megan Bamford, sophomore Katharine Bowman and sophomore Lauren Seigel.
Â
Elsewhere, Boston College earned a fourth place finish at the Franklin Lane Trophy, hosted by MIT. The Eagles wrapped up the weekend by winning two races out of five at that competition.
Â
Finally, at the Captain Hurst Bowl hosted by Dartmouth, Boston College claimed sixth place overall.
Â
The Eagles are back in action next weekend, with a series of regattas on tap. One of which, the Central Series II, will be hosted by Boston College.
