Eagles Close Non-Conference Slate Against UConn
October 16, 2017 | Men's Soccer
Men's soccer will play its final non-ACC game of the season on Tuesday night
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Coming off its first ACC win of the season – in overtime on Friday night against Syracuse – the Boston College men's soccer team wraps up the non-conference portion of its slate with a game against Connecticut on Tuesday night.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Newton Campus Fields. The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, which is accessible via WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.
Simon Enstrom powered the Eagles last week, assisting on both of Friday's goals after a hat trick on Tuesday at Harvard. The Eagles now come into Tuesday's game on their first two-game winning streak since August.
Boston College (5-8-0, 1-5-0 ACC) is 4-3-0 in their previous seven non-ACC games.
Connecticut (7-3-2, 4-0-0 AAC) comes into Tuesday's game on their own two-game winning streak, claiming conference wins at Cincinnati (1-0) and South Florida (2-0) in their last two outings.
The Huskies sit atop the American's standings with 12 points, three points clear of SMU and South Florida in second. In the last six games, UConn has allowed just two goals – both to No. 3 Maryland in a 3-2 home loss – and ranks 14th nationally in goals allowed per game (0.631). Goalkeeper Scott Levene is ninth nationally in shutouts (7) and 14th in GAA (0.631).
Up top, forward Abdou Mbacke Thiam has eight goals – tied with Enstrom for 24th nationally – while his five game-winning goals are first nationally.
Annual rivals for more than 20 years in the Big East, Tuesday's meeting is just the sixth between the teams since Boston College joined the ACC in 2005.
Following Tuesday's game the Eagles will host No. 2 Wake Forest on Saturday, Oct. 20, in the team's final home game of the year at which the team's three seniors – Henry Balf, Tomas Gudmundsson and Mohammed Moro - will be honored. Kickoff for that game is set for 6 p.m., and the match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
