Dreswick, Frei and Sharabba named softball captains
Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Seniors Jessica Dreswick, Allyson Frei and Chloe Sharabba will serve as captains of the Boston College softball team for the 2018 season, head coach Ashley Obrest announced on Thursday.
All three seniors are standout players both for the Eagles and in the ACC. Dreswick threw the first ACC and second-overall no-hitter in program history against N.C. State on April 23, 2016 and was named to the All-ACC First team. Frei, who did not play due to injury last year, won the Rising Leader Award at the Golden Eagle Awards. Sharabba was named to the All-ACC First Team and led the team in runs with 40 last season.
"Chloe, Jessica and Ally have gone above and beyond to be in the position they are, as captains of Boston College softball," Obrest said. "Their investment and commitment to the program goes beyond the day to day practices, weight lifting sessions and conditioning sessions. Their vision for leading this program to new heights is clear, evident and exciting for all those involved in our program. Their approach in all they do is consistent, which is a vital aspect of being a leader. The leadership of our program is in great hands with Chloe, Jessica and Ally."
As a junior, Dreswick appeared in 45 games and made 39 starts. She broke the school record for single season victories (22) and single-season starts (39). She also led the team in strikeouts (166), innings pitched (235) and appearances (45). She won ACC Pitcher of the Week (4/4) after going 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 14 innings the previous week.
"I am honored and grateful that my team has chosen me to be a captain for this year," Dreswick said. "I will continue to be a passionate, vocal, and competitive leader on and off the field. I am eager to lead this team and program to the next level and to continue to build a winning tradition here at The Heights."

During her sophomore year, Frei appeared in 41 games and made 26 starts. She was named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-region Second Team and posted a 2.90 ERA. She struck out a team-high 186 batters in 174.0 innings pitched and held batters to a .218 batting average while hurling seven complete games. Off the field, Frei is currently the president of the Student-Athlete Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Â
"I am extremely humbled and honored to be chosen as a captain of Boston College softball," Frei said. "This team has so much potential to succeed in the ACC and I am excited to play a role in that. To me, being a captain means to positively impact my teammates and everyone involved in this program. I hope I can make that impact every day by motivating my teammates and by being a positive influence on and off the field."
Â
As a junior, Sharabba played in and started all 53 games. She finished second on the team in slugging percentage (.639), hits (54), doubles (10), home runs (eight) and total bases (88) and was third in RBIs (28). She placed second on the team with 13 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games.
Â
"It is an honor to be named a captain for Boston College softball," Sharabba said. "As one of the captains on this team, I will bring a fun and competitive spirit day in and day out. We have high hopes and expectations for this season and there is no doubt we have the talent to achieve our goals. I am looking forward to leading the team throughout this journey!"
