Eagles Finish Fall Season Strong

Strong pitching and power hitting propel the Eagles to victory
The Boston College softball team won its final fall games of the season this past weekend. They defeated Bryant, 13-4, on Saturday, Oct. 7 and swept Providence, winning 7-3 and 10-1 on Sunday, Oct. 8.

Seniors Allyson Frei and Jessica Dreswick and freshman CC Cook all had strong outings over the weekend, allowing a combined eight runs over three games and earning three victories. Freshman Jenna Ergle and senior Jordan Chimento each notched homeruns and senior Chloe Sharabba blasted two home runs over the course of the weekend.

The Eagles finished their fall season with seven wins and only one loss.

BC Highlights:
- Frei, Dreswick and Cook all combined to pitch for the win. They allowed five hits and struck out 12 batters.
- Junior Lexi DiEmmanuele was 2-4 and scored three times.
- Chimento was 1-2 with a hit, two walks and a hit by pitch. She scored four times.
- Ergle hit a grand slam.
- DiEmmanuele led off the game in the first inning with a bunt single. She stole second base and then Chimento had a hit to right field. A sac fly by Ergle scored DiEmmanuele who advanced to third on Chimento's hit. Junior Allyson Moore then had an RBI single to right field to drive in Chimento.
- The Eagles kept the scoring going in the second inning with a lead-off single from sophomore Brenna Griesser. She stole second and third and scored off of a hit by freshman Gianna Randazza.
- BC opened the scoring in the fifth inning when they loaded bases off of a bunt single by DiEmmanuele and a walk each by Sharabba and Chimento. Ergle blasted a grand slam to drive in four more runs for the Eagles.
- The Eagles added more runs to their lead in the following inning. Randazza reached on a fielder's choice and sophomore Olivia Markopoulos had a bunt single. Both advanced a base on a wild pitch and then DiEmmanuele scored Randazza on a single. An error by the Bryant third baseman scored Markopoulos and DiEmmanuele. Chimento drew a walk and scored on a walk, fielder's choice and wild pitch.
- Griesser led off the seventh inning with a hit and then stole her third base of the day. Freshman Cami Sellers advanced her to third on a sac fly and then Markopoulos collected an RBI with a hit to left.
- In the eighth inning, the Eagles added one more run to their lead when Chimento scored on a sac fly by Moore to center field.

- Dreswick, Frei and Cook combined for the win allowing only four hits and recording five strikeouts.
- Chimento was 3-4 on the day.
- Sharabba was 2-4 with a homerun.
- Sellers and Moore both went 2-4 with two RBI's each.
- DiEmmanuele led off the first inning with a double. Griesser followed with a base hit and then senior Annie Murphy hit a triple to drive in Emmanuele. Griesser scored on a base hit by Ergle.
- The Eagles added to their lead with a home run by Sharabba in the fourth inning.
- Chimento reached on a base hit in the fifth inning and advanced on a base hit by Sharabba and an error. Moore picked up an RBI with a base hit.
- In the seventh inning, Ergle was hit by a pitch and then advanced on a base hit by Chimento. Sharabba reached on an error and Moore collected another RBI with a base hit, which scored Ergle. Sellers had two RBIs on a double.

- Markopoulos reached on a base hit in the third inning and advanced on a wild pitch. DiEmmanuele and Sharabba each reached on a base hit and scored Markopoulos. DiEmmanuele then scored on a throwing error by the catcher and Sharabba scored on a wild pitch.
- Grisser doubled and scored on an error in the sixth inning.
- The Eagles increased their lead in the seventh inning, starting with a base hit by Sharabba. She advanced on an error and then Murphy hit a two-run home run. Ergle drew a walk and Randazza reached on a base hit of her own. Chimento then hit a home run, collecting 3 RBIs.
