Eagles Ousted in Crosstown Clash at Harvard

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- The Eagles had three players who had double-doubles on the night: junior Sol Calvete (17 kills, 13 digs), senior Julia Topor (15 kills, 11 digs) and sophomore McKenna Goss (12 kills, 13 digs).
- Calvete's kill tally was a match high, while senior libero Madisen Lydon had the match high in digs with 30.
- Lydon also tacked on to her team-leading service ace tally with three in the match and posted a match-high of 30 digs.
- In the hitting percentage category, Calvete was second behind freshman Anna Skold. The junior and rookie hit .316 and .333, respectively
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
BC gained some ground by going on a 7-1 run to take an 11-5 lead, highlighted by all three of Lydon's aces. The Crimson rallied with a 4-0 run of their own to get within two at 15-13. Harvard kept threatening and trailed by only one at 17-16 and 23-22, forcing the Eagles to call timeout in both instances. The Maroon and Gold held on, though, to take the victory in the opener, 25-23.
Set 2
The teams exchanged the first few points, but Harvard mustered a 10-2 run to open up a 13-6 lead. The Eagles tried rallying, using five straight points to get within two at 18-16, but fell short as the Crimson closed out the set with three straight points to win 25-19.
Set 3
The Eagles took their first commanding set of the lead of 15-10, breaking a tie by winning five straight points. The Crimson could not get within more than four and the Maroon and Gold grabbed the final four points of the set to win 25-17
Set 4
BC couldn't get a grasp on the set at the start, as Harvard took a 10-5 lead that forced the Eagles to take their first timeout. The Maroon and Gold rallied with four straight points to tie the match at 12 all, forcing the Crimson to take a timeout of their own. Though BC led 13-12, Harvard reclaimed the lead at 17-13 with five straight points and did not look back from there, taking the set one 25-20.
Set 5
The Eagles opened up a slim 3-1 lead, but the Crimson rallied and went on a 5-1 run to lead 8-6 and force a BC timeout. The teams kept exchanging points until BC grabbed a one-point lead at 13-12, forcing a Harvard timeout. BC won the next point to earn two match points, but the Crimson fended off both of them. The Maroon and Gold failed to get to match point again, as Harvard won 17-15.

The Eagles come back home to the Heights to square off against another cross-town rival, the Northeastern Huskies, on Sunday at noon.
