Sheenan Comes Through in Overtime vs. No. 14 Cardinal
September 10, 2016 | Field Hockey
Eagles take 3-2 win over Stanford on Saturday afternoon in Syracuse
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Brittany Sheenan scored two goals – including the game-winner in overtime – to lead the No. 18 Boston College field hockey team to a 3-2 win over No. 14 Stanford in a neutral-site contest on Saturday afternoon.
Â
BC twice took one-goal leads only to see the Cardinal come back to tie it both times, but once the teams advanced to the extra session, Sheenan wasted little time finding the result for the Eagles. She break-away goal just 1:45 into the first extra session sealed the win for BC. It was BC's first win in overtime since topping Wake Forest in the quarterfinals of the 2015 ACC Championship on Nov. 5. Audra Hampsch supported the win in goal with an eight-save performance.Â
BC (2-3, 0-0 ACC) returns to action on Friday, Sept. 16, when the Eagles host No. 3 North Carolina at the Newton Campus Field Hockey Complex at 3 p.m.

Head coach Kelly Doton
"A win against a very good Stanford team is something this team needed. One of the program's core values is resiliency and to keep executing the game plan. After Stanford scored to tie the game twice shows that these players won't give up. I'm so proud of them."
