Four Rowers Named to All-ACC Academic Team

Seniors Megan Carney and Michaela Jaffe and juniors Grace Grunau and Caitlin Yaccarino were each named to the 2016 Rowing All-ACC Academic Team as announced today by the conference.

To be nominated for the All-ACC Academic team, student-athletes must have recorded a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average in the winter semester and have maintained a 3.0 career GPA at their respective schools.

All four student-athletes – Carney, Grunau, Jaffe and Yaccarino, were members of the Eagles Varsity Eight team. The Eagles placed seventh overall in the final team standings at the ACC Rowing competition this past season.

Megan Carney has been a consistent contributor in the Varsity Eight since her sophomore year. A native of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, broke a number of team records during the 2015-16 season and was also honored with the teams Outstanding Senior Award. She is planning to start medical school in the fall of 2017. Â

Grace Grunau has been in the Varsity Eight since her freshmen year and a consistent leader in the junior class. She was also named a 2016 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar Athlete. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is working as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at UBS Financial Services in New York.

Michaela Jaffe was a member of the Varsity Eight the all races this spring, and was one of the most improved athletes on the team. A native of Yardley, Pennsylvania, is currently working as a Sales Representative at Definitive Healthcare. Â

Caitlin Yaccarino has been in the Varsity Eight since her sophomore year and also earned the teams Athlete of the Year award. A native of Cold Spring Harbor, New York always strives for excellence and is a powerful all-around athlete. Caitlin is teaching in Brooklyn, New York this summer.
