Eagles To Play Fairfield In Birthday of Basketball Doubleheader

Game to be played on 125th anniversary of the sport

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's basketball team will face Fairfield on Wednesday, December 21 at Mohegan Sun Arena as part of the Birthday of Basketball doubleheader, announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Auburn and Oklahoma will also take part in the event. Game times and ticket information will be released at a later date.

The doubleheader will take place exactly 125 years to the day that Dr. James Naismith, a physical education teacher, introduced the new game to his class in Springfield in 1891.

This is the fourth neutral site game that Boston College will play in 2016-17. The Eagles will play three games in New York City: two in the Barclays Center Classic against Kansas State (Nov. 25) and Maryland or Richmond (Nov. 26), and against Auburn (Dec. 12) at Madison Square Garden in the Under Armour "Reunion".

BC has a 24-10 advantage in the all-time series against the Stags. The two last met on the hardwood in 2006.
