Sankey To Be Inducted into BC Varsity Club Hall of Fame

The 2016 class will be honored at Sept. 24 football game
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Former Boston College baseball player Brian Sankey will be inducted into the Boston College Varisty Clube Hall of Fame, along with eight other members of the 2016 class.
The honorees also include:  Bobby Allen `01 (men's ice hockey), Blake Bellefeuille `00 (men's ice hockey), Clare Droesch `05 (women's basketball), William Green (football), Guy Melamed `05 (men's soccer), Vin Shanley `72 (men's ice hockey), Paul Zukauskas `01 (football) and Dr. Diane English (physician). They will be inducted in a ceremony on Friday, Sept. 23 in the Heights Room and recognized at halftime of the Eagles' football game against Wagner on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Sankey, a native of North Attleboro, Mass., served as the team captain in his senior season in 1996 and had a .353 batting average in his final two seasons for the Eagles. He was a career .311 hitter and started 155 of the 156 games he played in. In his four seasons at BC, Sankey had 166 hits, 44 doubles, 12 home runs and 120 RBIs. He earned All-Big East first-team honors as a junior and ranks seventh in on-base percentage in program history at .414. Sankey played for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1996 MLB Draft. Â
