The Boston College women's basketball team will host Penn State on Wednesday, November 30 at Conte Forum in the 10th annual  ACC/Big Ten Challenge, announced by the two conferences this afternoon. This is the ninth consecutive time BC has qualified for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. BC is currently 3-5 in the challenge.
"The ACC/Big Ten Challenge is exciting every year. Pitting these two storied conferences against each other is great for college basketball. BC fans will enjoy a great match-up here in Chestnut Hill when we host a talented and well-coached Penn St. team in this year's challenge," said Eagles head coach Erik Johnson about the matchup.
This will be the third meeting between Boston College and Penn State. The first meeting between the two teams took place on Dec. 29, 1984 as the Eagles fell, 89-54, on the road.
In the 2010 ACC/Big Ten, BC hosted Penn State on Dec. 2, 2010. The Eagles won a wild, 113-104 overtime battle, behind a career-high 25 points from Jaclyn Thoman and a 20-point, 10 rebound effort from Stefanie Murphy.
Penn State is coached by Coquese Washington who has led the Nittany Lions to three 20-plus win seasons over seven years. Former Eagles forward Mia Nickson played for Washington from 2010-2013 after playing one season at BC.
Last season, Penn State finished 11th in the Big Ten Conference at 6-12 and went 12-19 overall. Â The Nittany Lions defeated Illinois in the first round of the conference tournament before losing to Purdue, 70-59. Penn State lost to Virginia in the 2015 ACC-Big Ten Challenge, 64-59, at home.
Boston College finished the season with a 15-16 overall record and went 2-14 in the ACC. BC opened the season with an impressive 11-1 record. The Eagles defeated Virginia Tech in the first round of the conference tournament before losing to NC State in the second round.
In the 2015 ACC/Big TenChallenge, BC defeated Purdue, 58-56, on the road behind a three-pointer from senior Nicole Boudreau with seconds to play. She finished with 10 points, while rookie Mariella Fasoula posted 23 points and nine boards.
