Stefanie Murphy returns to The Heights after playing four year overseas. The former Eagles forward will join the women’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant.
Murphy, a former ACC Rookie of the Year, played at Boston College from 2007-11. The 6-foot-4 forward still stands as the fourth leading scorer in program history with 1,722 points. She is second in rebounding (937 boards) and games played (132), third in field goals made (695) and fifth in blocks. She finished her career with 29 double-doubles and scored in double-figures in 87 games.
While at Boston College, Murphy averaged 13 points, 7.0 rebounds, shot over 50 percent from the floor and helped the Eagles win 20 or more games in three seasons. She was an All-ACC honorable mention in 2007-08, 2009-10, ACC Rookie of the Year in the 2007-08, and All-ACC Freshman team.
Murphy earned the Hoops For Cure All-Tournament team honors as well as an all-tournament team spot at the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas in 2010.
A native of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Murphy is coming off one of her most successful seasons overseas. She led Sepsi-Sic Romania to the championship game and was named the league MVP. Prior to the 2014-15 season, Murphy played in Slovakia for two season and her first season in Hungary.
Murphy graduated from Boston College with a degree in communications in 2010 and will work on her master’s degree in the Woods School of Advanced Studies with a concentration in leadership.
