HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got on the board in the second as Johnny Adams and senior Logan Hoggarth tallied back-to-back singles with one out and Bigras drove Adams in with a hard-hit chopper past the first baseman. Hoggarth landed on third, but with two down, a grounder to the second-base bag ended the inning.
- BC added a run in the fifth when Palomaki led off with his 28th walk of the season and Sciortino moved home over with a sac bunt. Strem plated him with a base hit to center.
- The Hokies loaded the bases in the sixth on a lead-off base hit and two walks with two outs. Skogsbergh got No. 9 hitter Joe Freiday Jr., who hit a home run on Friday, to foul out to end the inning.
- The BC defense was on display in the eighth as Skogsbergh gave up back-to-back singles to start the inning. After Sciortino caught a pop up on a failed bunt attempt for the first out, the righty battled back to a full count and got Matt Dauby to ground to third. Senior Joe Cronin stepped on the bag and fired across the mound to first for the inning-ending double play.
- In the top ninth, the winning run came to the plate with one out. Skogsbergh started things with a strikeout looking and Jesse Adams came on in relief.
