Mannelly nets 250th career point, Chandler records career high five goals
BLACKSBURG, VA. - Despite a career high five goals from Tess Chandler, Boston College dropped their quarterfinal round match to Syracuse, 16-11, on Thursday evening and were knocked out of conference tournament play.Â

BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Boston College fell to Syracuse in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament Thursday evening by a score of 16-11. The Eagles fall to 2-11 all time in conference tournament play and to 2-14 in the all-time series with the Orange of Syracuse.Â
- On her first point of the day, senior Sarah Mannelly took sole possession of third place on the program's all-time with her 249th career tally. She surpasses Lauren Costello, who registered 248 career points between 2007-10 on The Heights. The New Canaan, Conn. native reached a new milestone on her second assist as she notched her 250th career point less than seven minutes later. With 16 career points (9G, 7A) in ACC Tournament action, she leads all current players.Â
- Junior Tess Chandler netted a new career high, tallying five goals. She beat her previous high of four goals, which she had recorded in three different occasions.
- Boston College held the advantage in both caused turnovers (11-8) and free position shots (6-4). Â
TURNING POINT
- After Boston College went up 2-0 in the first 2:35 of the opening frame, Syracuse scored the next five straight and never trailed again. Despite a one-goal deficit at the break, the Orange scored the first five out of the half and kept control to earn the victory.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College jumped on the board first with a pair of unassisted goals from senior Caroline Margolis and junior Tess Chandler.Â
- After Syracuse notched five-straight goals, BC got two back on goals from Kate Weeks (Kent) and Kate Rich (Sarah Mannelly) with just over 11 minutes remaining in the first half.Â
- Chandler and Weeks added two additional goals as the Eagles went into the break with a 7-6 deficit.Â
- Following five consecutive goals from Syracuse to start the second frame, Chandler recorded an unassisted goal at 15:29 to bring the Eagles back within five at 12-7.
- The two squads exchanged goals as the pair of Kenzie Kent and Chandler brought the score back within four with 11:24 remaining in the second half. Both Kent and Chandler converted free position shots in the final 8:24 to round out the scoring for BC. Â Â
