Eagles Fall to Hopkins in Regular Season Finale

Saturday marked the celebration of the team's six seniors
NEWTON, Mass. – After being held to only three goals in the first half, Johns Hopkins erupted for nine goals, including six straight, to upset No. 16 Boston College, 12-9, on senior day at the Newton Campus Lacrosse Field.

BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Boston College snapped a three game winning streak, their longest of the season, in the regular season finale to Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon in Newton.
- They finish their regular season with a final record of 10-7 and a non-conference record of 8-2.
- Following the conclusion of the game, the Eagles held a ceremony to honor its six seniors, who played their final home game at Newton Campus dawning maroon and gold. The senior class of Emily Zlevor, Kara Magley, Kate Rich, Molly Erdle, Caroline Margolis and Sarah Mannelly each received senior banners.
- Heading into the ACC Championships, the class of 2016 is tied as the winningest class in program history. They, and the class of 2015, both tallied 52 wins in the class' four years.
- With a team high four points, senior Sarah Mannelly moved into a tie for third place on the all-time points list at Boston College. Now with 248 career points, the senior captain ties Lauren Costello (2007-10).
- Freshman Dempsey Arsenault recorded her first career goal in the first half.
- Saturday's game marked the first time this season that all six starters were in the starting lineup. The senior class combined for four goals, two assists, seven ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers in the contest.
TURNING POINT
- Coming out of half trailing, 7-3, Hopkins scored six of the first seven goals to take the lead 9-8. Despite the Eagles' effort to tie it again at the 14:03 mark, JHU scored the final three goals to ensure the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BC got on the board first with a pair of free position goals to begin the game. With 24:24 on the clock, Tess Chandler converted an opportunity following a JHU foul to go up 1-0. Three minutes later, Caroline Margolis did the same, scoring her 27th of the season to extend the early lead.
- After JHU earned their first goal, BC tallied the next four. Kate Weeks scored on an assist from Tess Chandler. Kate Rich followed suit on a Kenzie Kent assist before Kent tallied her 16th on a feed from Sarah Mannelly. Dempsey Arsenault pushed the Eagles lead to 6-1 on a feed from Kate Weeks to end the BC scoring streak.
- Following a pair of goals from Hopkins, Sarah Mannelly netted an unassisted goal to give the Eagles a 7-3 lead heading into the break.
- In the fourth minute of the second half, Tess Chandler recorded her 24th of the season, a man-up goal, on an assist from Mannelly to push the lead to 8-3.
- JHU started a streak of six straight goals to regain the lead, 9-8.
- Mannelly added her second goal of the game at 14:03 before Hopkins scored the final three goals of the game.
