Final ACC Tuneup Set For Saturday vs. Virginia Tech

Eagles finish ACC grind before closing out regular season schedule next week
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - After earning its first ever win over Dartmouth on Tuesday, the Eagles will challenge Virginia Tech in the final conference game of the regular season on Alumni Day, this Saturday, April 16, at 11:30 AM. It marks the first of the three remaining games in the regular season before the team heads to Virginia Tech on April 28 for the ACC Championship.Â

GAME NOTES:
- In Tuesday's 14-9 come from behind victory over the Big Green of Dartmouth, six players either set or matched career highs while Kenzie Kent's 10 points tied for the second most points in a single BC game all-time. The Eagles also recorded their first ever win over Dartmouth in what was the 13th meeting in the all-time series Tuesday.
- In the latest statistics, BC is ranked first in the conference and 32nd in the nation with its .458 free position percentage. It is fourth in the ACC in points per game (16.62) and fifth in assists per game (4.46), draw controls per game (13.46) and ground balls per game (15.69). The 13.46 draw controls per game is 13th best in the nation.
- Molly Erdle's mark of 1.85 CT per game is fourth highest in conference play and 26th across the nation. Until last week, Caroline Margolis' .636 free position percentage was the eighth highest in the nation.
- In what will be the Eagles final conference game of the season, Virginia Tech enters with a 5-10 overall record and winless in the last eight, including all five conference games they have played this season. Looking for ACC victory No. 1, the Hokies are led by Kristine Loscalzo's 26 goals. Meghan Macera of VT is second in the ACC in caused turnovers (2.40) and fourth in ground balls won (2.67) while Hannah Sieger is fifth in saves per game (6.13).
- BC's 12-4 record over Virginia Tech in the all-time series is the most wins ever against an ACC opponent.
- Against Dartmouth (4/12), Kenzie Kent became the first BC Eagle since 2010 to record at least 10 points in a single game. With five goals and five assists, Kent matched Lauren Costello's 10 points registered against Iona on April 7, 2010, a 19-5 victory for the maroon and gold. She tied Costello for the second most points scored in a game all-time, with only Lauren Miller having more points (11), a feat Miller accomplished on April 22, 2001 vs. Stanford. As of Tuesday's game, Kent became the seventh player in the NCAA to record 10 points in a game this season. She is tied for third most points in an NCAA game this season, with only Katie McHugh (Longwood U) and Allison Gionta (Marist) having recorded more (11). On her third save of the game against Dartmouth, Zoe Ochoa moved into eighth place in program history for career saves. With her 10 saves this afternoon, she surpassed Rachel Zeller, who played for the Eagles between 2001 and 2002, who had amassed 218 career saves.
- Sarah Mannelly moved into fourth place in all-time asssists and into seventh place in all-time draw controls vs Dartmouth (4/12).
- Eagles assistant coach Brooke Griffin will continue with her playing career after being drafted with the first pick of the fourth round (13th overall) by the Baltimore Ride in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League on Wednesday evening. A 2015 Maryland graduate, Griffin was one of 40 selected in the eigth round, four team semi-professional women's lacrosse league. She was one of eight Terps to be chosen and among the 17 members of Team USA, who were all drafted in the process. Former Eagle Kristin Igoe (BC '12) was also chosen in the eighth round (36th overall) by the Boston Storm.  Â
LAST TIME OUT:
- Trailing at the half, BC scored eight second half goals and held Dartmouth to a lone two goals as the Eagles earned their first ever win against the Big Green.Â
NEXT UP:
- The Eagles have two games left on the schedule. Following a midweek game at Harvard on April 20, which can be seen on ESPN3, the team will participate in its final match of the year against Johns Hopkins, at home on April 23. In that final game, the team will honor its six seniors who will be graduating in May from Boston College.
