Varsity Four Boat Named ACC Crew of the Week

Boat earned gold medal in Knecht Cup Grand Final, defeating UNC by less than half a second
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - The Boston College women's rowing Varsity Four boat was named ACC Crew of the Week after winning gold in the Grand Final of the Knecht Cup Championship on Sunday.Â
After winning both its heat and semfinal races, competing against the field of 34 boats, the BC V4 boat of Amanda Bakke, Michela Karrash, Paige Vignone, Elizabeth McKernan and Olivia Rogus placed first with a time of 7:30.30, edging out the Tar Heels of North Carolina by less than a half second in the process.Â
The Varsity Four squad was one of six BC boats to medal on Saturday. They and the Novice Four took gold, the Varsity Eight earned silver, and the Second Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight each netted bronze medals, respectively.
The entire team will be back on the water Saturday when the Eagles take on Boston University and Rhode Island on the Charles River course.Â
