Safron Claims Lone Win at No. 2 Carolina

Eagles fall on the road, 6-1
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Boston College women's tennis team fell to second-ranked North Carolina on the road on Sunday, dropping a 6-1 decision to the Tar Heels at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The Tar Heels won the doubles points with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The nation's No.1 ranked team of Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay topped the Eagles' new combination of Asiya Dair and Lexi Borr, 6-4. Ashley Dai and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer also won over Heini Salonen and Jackie Urbinati, 6-1.
Carter – also ranked No. 1 in the country in singles – defeated 80th-ranked Dair 6-3, 6-3, before Kay – No. 30 in the country – topped No. 89 Borr 6-4, 6-1.
The Eagles' lone point on the day came on the No. 4 court where Emily Safron took the match when Kate Vialle retired after Safron won the first set 7-5.
The Eagles (8-12, 3-10 ACC) return to the court on Friday, April 15, when they host Boston University at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
