Three Take Two Wins as Eagles Top Terriers

Borr, Vasilyev and Safron all go 2-0 vs. BU
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's tennis team used two wins each from three different players to earn a 5-2 win over cross-town rival Boston University on Friday afternoon at the Flynn Recreation Complex.Â
Behind both doubles and singles wins from Lexi Borr, Katya Vasilyev and Emily Safron, BC won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead and went on to win singles matches on Courts 1, 2, 3 and 4.Â
Asiya Dair and Safron both won three-set singles matches on the Nos. 1 and 4 courts, respectively. Both players lost the first set 6-3, but won the next two sets to give the Eagles wins. Borr and Vasilyev both won on straight sets, with Borr taking a 6-2, 6-2 win on Court 2, and Vasilyev winning 6-1, 6-1 on Court 3.Â
Friday's match was Boston College's (9-12, 3-10 ACC) final non-conference match in the regular season. On Sunday, the Eagles will host NC State in the final ACC match of the year before turning their attention to the ACC Championship next week in Cary, N.C.Â
BC and the Wolfpack will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the 'Plex. NC State is currently tied for 10th in the ACC standings entering the weekend, while the Eagles are 12th.Â
