Eagles Fall in Final Regular-Season Match

Vasilyev, Safron each win two matches on Sunday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 64 Boston College women's tennis team dropped its final regular-season match of the season, falling 4-3 to No. 34 NC State, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
Both Katya Vasilyev and Emily Safron won both of their matches on the day, teaming together to take a win on the No. 2 doubles court and then each claiming wins in singles actions.
BC won the doubles point, buoyed by the Vasilyev/Safron tandem taking a 6-2 win on the No. 2 court, while Asiya Dair and Wan-Yi Sweeting took a 6-4 win on the No. 3 court.
In singles action, Vasilyev won at the No. 3 spot, earning a three-set win over NC State's Bianca Moldovan, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4. On the next court over, Safron defeated Claudia Wiktorin in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
However, the Wolfpack won four-of-six single matches, including wins by No. 51 Martina Frantova over the 70th-ranked Dair; Joanna Nalborska over Lexi Borr (6-3, 6-2), Amanda Rebol over Jennifer Ren in three sets (6-4, 1-6, 6-2) and Barbara Mancera over Sweeting (6-4, 6-3).
Boston College (9-13, 3-11 ACC) has wrapped up the regular season and will next face No. 57 Florida State in the first round of the ACC Championship on Wednesday, April 20, at 1 p.m. The Seminoles are the tournament's No. 12 seed, while BC is the No. 13 seed.
