BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- The Eagles picked up their 200th program win after defeating Navy, 17-9, at the Newton Campus Lacrosse Field Saturday afternoon. Boston College improved to 4-2 on the season and remains undefeated in non-conference play following the win. This was the first ever game played between the two squads.
- Senior Sarah Mannelly continued to build up her collegiate resume Saturday, becoming only the seventh player in program history to amass 200 career points. The New Cannan, Conn. native has now tallied 148 goals and 53 assists in 66 career games. With her four goals Saturday, Mannelly surpassed both Lauren Miller (1999-02) and Susie Breaznell (2002-05) in the all-time BC career goals record, and currently sits in sixth place in that respective category.
- Freshman Taylor Walker tallied her first collegiate point, registering an assist on Sam Apuzzo's goal with 2:01 remaining in the second half.
- Junior goalkeeper Zoe Ochoa set a new career high with six groundballs, one more than her previous career high, set vs. Colorado on March 25, 2015.
- Junior Kate Weeks made her first start of the season, tallying one goal, one ground ball and one draw control.
- Freshman Sam Apuzzo tied a career high with four goals, her second four-goal game in only six collegiate games.Â
- Sophomore Kaileen Hart set a new career high with three points (2 G, 1 A). Her previous high of two points came last season at New Hampshire. Â Â
TURNING POINT
- After Navy's Katie Gallagher notched a free position goal with 26:06 left in the first half to even the score at one, the Eagles outscored their opponent 8-2 in the first half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kate Rich tallied the game's first goal, her second of the season, on a feed from Caroline Margolis.Â
- Sarah Mannelly and Sam Apuzzo each tallied four goals to pace the Eagles offense.Â
- The maroon and gold fired off five straight goals at one point in the first half, courtesy of Tess Chandler (2), Mannelly, Caroline Margolis and Kaileen Hart
- Sam Apuzzo netted a fast break goal with 3:12 to play in the first half to carry the Eagles into the break with a six goal lead, 9-3.Â
- The Eagles had two three-goal runs in the second half. Kayla O'Connor tallied two goals and Mannelly one during the first run between the 13:18 and 11:20 mark while Mannelly, Kate Weeks, and Apuzzo controlled the second run with one goal each between the 7:42 and 2:01 marks. Â
