BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Boston College is now 16-6 in Hockey East semifinal contests and 6-2 all-time against Northeastern in the Hockey East tournament, including a 2-1 mark in semifinal action. In the last 13 games, Northeastern is now 12-0-1 dating back to its February Beanpot semifinal loss to Boston University.Â
- Friday's semifinal was Chris Calnan's 100th-career game as an Eagle.
- Miles Wood's goal 15 seconds into the first was the fastest goal by an Eagle this season. The previous fastest goal scored this season was netted by Casey Fitzgerald against Harvard in the Beanpot Semifinals on February 1. In that game, the younger Fitzgerald put the Eagles up 1-0 at the 1:35 mark of the first period on a feed from older brother Ryan and fellow linesman Colin White.Â
- Miles Wood registered his first-career multi-goal game on Friday against Northeastern.
- The second Hockey East semifinal game between Boston College and Northeastern began at 10:36 pm, 2 hours and 36 minutes later than the scheduled start time due to the first Hockey East semifinal extending into triple overtime. UMass Lowell defeated Providence in the first game and will advance to play Northeastern in tomorrow night's Hockey East Championship. Â
- Northeastern's Lincoln Griffin tallied the difference maker at the 9:44 mark of the third period.Â
- 15 seconds into the game, Miles Wood skated into the zone and snuck one five hole past Northeastern's Ryan Ruck for his ninth goal of the season to put the Eagles up early. Recorded as the second fastest goal in Hockey East Tournament history, Steve Santini received the puck after Cangelosi won the game's first faceoff. Santini passed it up to Christopher Brown in the neutral zone, who found Wood as he crossed the blue line to set up the game's first goal.Â
- With 5:52 remaining in the first period, Northeastern evened the game at one-apiece after Aston-Reese skated past the defense and beat Demko stick side.Â
- With less than a second remaining in the first frame, NU's Mike McMurty, standing in the left circle of the BC zone, found Adam Gaudette, who snuck backdoor and beat a diving Demko to put the Huskies up 2-1.
- Colin White helped the Eagles tie the game, 2-2, 1:10 into the second period. After the puck skidded along the boards to the left of the NU net, Matthew Gaudreau knocked the puck from behind the net to White, who was driving towards Ruck.Â
- Less than two minutes later, Nolan Stevens regained the lead for the Huskies after a wrister beat Demko glove side. The goal came on a power play for NU.Â
- On the power play, Northeastern extended its lead to 4-2Â when Eric Williams crushed a slap shot that found its way between Demko's shoulder and the pipe. The goal, scored at 10:55 of the second half, was credited to Kevin Roy and Dylan Sikura.
- On their second power play of the game, Miles Wood netted his second of the game to cut the Eagles deficit to one goal at 13:54 of the second period. It was his 10th of the season and the first career multi-goal game for the Manchester, Mass. native. The tally was his third power play goal of the season.
- Northeastern tallied its fifth goal of the game and regained its two goal lead off a turnover in the BC zone was converted by Lincoln Griffin at 9:44 of the third period.Â
- At 10:50, Alex Tuch knocked in a Zach Sanford rebound to bring the Eagles to within one. It was his 15th of the season. Sanford and Steve Santini were credited with the assists. Â Â Â Â
