GAME NOTES
- In the first ever matchup between the two schools last season, the Eagles defeated Louisville 16-15 in overtime after Covie Stanwick tallied the game winning goal with six seconds left in the OT period. She and Mikaela Rix both had seven points in the victory. Louisville is in their second season as a member of the ACC, coming from the Big East after the 2014 season.
- With 49 draw controls in the first three games, BC's average of 16.33 per game is ninth best in the NCAA and second best amongst ACC teams. With 13.67 goals per game, BC has the 26th highest scoring offense in the NCAA and the fourth highest in the ACC, behind UNC (13), Notre Dame (15), and Syracuse (18).Â
- Freshman Sam Apuzzo is tied for 15th in the NCAA for single game highs for draw controls (8) and tied for 21st in the NCAA in draw controls per game (5). Senior Sarah Mannelly is tied for 32nd in the NCAA with two caused turnovers per game.
- Louisville is off to a hot start, having won four non-conference games to begin its season. The Cardinals most recently defeated Vanderbilt, 15-5, and all but one of their games was decided by less than eight points. They will be playing their first ACC game this Saturday. Senior midfielder Kaylin Morissette was recently added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. In four games, she has tallied 11 goals, four assists and 46 draw controls.Â
- On Tuesday, February 23, three Eagles were among 18 female student athletes from the ACC to be named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, a list of the top-50 women's lacrosse players from across the NCAA. Sarah Mannelly, Caroline Margolis and Kenzie Kent were all included on the list. Mannelly and Margolis have both had positive impacts to start off the season, while Kenzie Kent has yet to join the team due to her committment to the women's ice hockey team, who just became the second team in women's college hockey history to finish the regular season with an undefeated record. She will join her lacrosse teammates at the conclusion of the ice hockey season.
- At Notre Dame Sunday, Sarah Mannelly (3) and Caroline Margolis (2) matched career highs in caused turnovers while Dempsey Arsenault tallied her first collegiate caused turnover and Brooke Troy picked up her first career tallies in both ground balls (3) and caused turnovers (2). Â
- Despite the fact that Notre Dame put up 14 goals against the Eagles defense in the ACC opener Sunday, the Irish's goalie Samantha Giacolon stopped 13 shots on goal, which was the most saves that a Notre Dame goalie has made since 2013. Giacolon's efforts earned her ACC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.Â
- Boston College remains two wins shy of its 200th win in program history, dating back to the 1992 season, the first season that women's lacrosse was a varsity program at The Heights. The Eagles are in its 25 season overall.Â
- On Wednesday, February 17, when the Eagles defeated Holy Cross 19-6, history was made as Caroline Margolis became the 20th player in program history to record 100 career points, a feat she accomplished with her first half goal. Sarah Mannelly moved into sole possession of sixth place in the BC career assists record. She currently has 49 career assists. Her next assist will put her in a tie for fifth place all-time with Kristin Igoe (2008-12), who recorded 50 career assists.Â
- Sam Apuzzo continues to show dominance early in her collegiate career. In the Holy Cross game, the freshman notched her second straight hat trick in as many collegiate games while her eight draw controls at Holy Cross were the fifth most ever in a single game for a BC player.
- Coach Acacia Walker is six wins away from tallying her 50th career win as head coach of the Eagles. Her current .698 winning percentage is the highest among BC coaches all time, dating back to the first year as a varsity program in 1992.
