BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Boston College fell to 2-2 on the season, including 0-2 in conference play, after they were defeated by Louisville Saturday afternoon, 7-6 (OT) at U of L Stadium in Louisville, Ky.Â
- This was only the second time the two squads squared off against each other. Louisville joined the ACC following the 2014 season. Both teams have now won one game in the all-time series and both games between the two schools have been decided in overtime.
- This was the first game that went to overtime this season for the Eagles and the first time the team has seen the new sudden death overtime rule in action. This was the 15th game in program history to go to overtime, and following the loss, the Eagles are 9-6 all-time in games that exceed 60 minutes of play.Â
- With an assist on Sam Apuzzo's first half goal, senior Sarah Mannelly moved into a tie for fifth place in the Boston College career assists record. She now has 50 career assists, which tied former Eagle Kristin Igoe, who played at the Heights between 2008-2012.Â
- Freshman Brooke Troy made her first collegiate start for the Eagles, picking up three ground balls and causing three turnovers. Her three GB's tie a career high while her three caused turnovers are a new career high for the Westwood, Mass. native.
- Junior GK Zoe Ochoa made a career high 13 saves in today's OT loss. Her previous high of 11 saves came vs. Colorado last year, a game the Eagles won 17-9. Â Â
TURNING POINT
- After the Eagles had two players sent to the penalty box in the overtime period, Louisville's junior attack Hannah Koloski netted the game winner on a free position shot with 12 seconds remaining in the first half of the overtime period. Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing by one, Sarah Mannelly got the Eagles one the board with a tomahawk-style goal at 21:47 of the first half.Â
- Junior Kate Weeks helped the Eagles take their first lead of the day with a free position goal at the 14:20 mark.
- Freshman Sam Apuzzo tallied her eighth goal of the season with 10:35 remaining in the first half. The two point lead caused Louisville to call its first timeout of the game.Â
- After Louisville tied it at three apiece, Sarah Mannelly helped the Eagles regain the lead with a nearside attempt that went low and got past the Cardinals goalie. With the goal at 2:17 of the first half, the Eagles went up 4-3, a lead that the team would take into the break.Â
- With three unanswered Cardinals goal to begin the half, Caroline Margolis snapped the UofL streak with her seventh goal of the season with 13:49 remaining in the second half.Â
- Kate Weeks took a pass from Caroline Margolis right in front of the crease that she converted to even the score at six apiece with 4:56 remaining in the game. The score would remain tied throughout the remainder of regulation. Â
