Cooley is one of 30 candidates
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – In a career full of accomplishments and accolades, Boston College senior Megan Cooley has found her name in consideration for another honor.
The Mill Creek, Wash., native was named one of 30 candidates for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award announced Friday. The award celebrates senior student-athletes who use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as community leaders.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The 30 candidates will be narrowed down to 10 finalists later in the season, with those 10 names then placed on the official ballot. The winner will be announced during the 2016 Women's College World Series.
Cooley is a senior double-major in economics and political science in the Carroll School of Management and a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll, a three-time recipient of the Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement and a three-time member of the ACC All-Academic Team. On the softball field, Cooley earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2015 while placing on the third team in 2014. She also holds three Boston College single-season records.
