December 01, 2016 | Women's Hockey
Eagles’ forward led the conference in points per game and assists per game in November
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College forward Caitrin Lonergan was named Pro Ambitions Hockey East co-Rookie of the Month for November by the conference. She also won the award for September/October, and shared this month's award with Maine's Tereza Vanisova.
The Eagles' freshmen led all Hockey East players – not just freshmen – in points per game (1.67) and assists per game (1.17) in November. Her PPG and APG totals also led all freshmen nationally last month. She posted 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in the Eagles' league-low six games. Lonergan also posted a .662 faceoff winning percentage in November, the second-highest among league freshmen. Â
Â
Lonergan recorded points in five of the six BC games last month, including a career-best four-point effort in a 5-1 win at New Hampshire on Nov. 11.
Â
She enters December tied for the conference's scoring lead in league games with 16 points from six goals and a league-high 10 assists in 12 Hockey East games so far.
This is Lonergan's fourth Hockey East honor so far this season: her second straight monthly honor to go with a pair of back-to-back rookie of the week awards on Nov. 7 and 14.
The sixth-ranked women's hockey team returns to action this weekend when they travel to Providence to face the Friars at Schneider Arena on Saturday, Dec. 3. Faceoff is set for 2 p.m.
