Boston College fencing kicked off the season with a strong performance at the NEIFC Fall Invitational at Smith College on Saturday.  Ten Eagles earned medals at the event, including a gold and seven bronzes on the day.

Renee Bichette, 2016 NCAA qualifier and All-American, came away with the gold in women's epee. she went 6-0 in her pool. Bichette was seeded sixth going into direct elimination.  In the elimination round, Renee marched through six opponents on her way to the gold, including a nail-biting 15-14 victory over the number two seed.  All three woman's sabre fencers medaled, with Jackie Bai and Laura Donovan sharing third place and Gaby Chau finishing sixth.  In foil, Amanda Lewis and Kayla Moy also tied for third.

In men's sabre, Eliot Kim placed third as he was not scored against in the pool round. He entered the direct elimination pool as the No. 2 seed. Kim finished in a tie for third with teammate Rahul Tasker.  Freshman foilist Zach Hammer also finished third in his event.
